Reflection on Coursework & Experiences
The purpose of standard four is for school leaders to demonstrate their ability to evaluate and monitor teacher instruction, recruit and retain effective teachers, and implement professional development to address instructional areas of improvement. The classroom observation project provides an example of my leadership skills and experiences regarding this standard, specifically the "evaluating and monitoring teacher instruction" indicator. To complete the classroom observation project, I conducted a pre-conference meeting, instructional observation, and post-conference meeting with two different teachers at PSAT Academy. I used the Danielson Framework to collect data and describe the strengths and areas of improvement for each teacher.

The classroom observation project provided me the opportunity to truly dissect the teaching standards and understand them from an administrator's perspective. I enjoyed conducting the classroom observations as it capitalized on my leadership strengths in organization and data analysis. However, I believe I still have areas of improvement within this standard as I did not have the opportunity to experience and practice skills in the recruiting process or professional development planning.
