Conclusion
Below you will find a short personal evaluation regarding my skills, experiences, and performance during the completion of the University of West Florida's Educational Leadership program. You will also find a short program evaluation reviewing the program's abilities to meet my goals and expectations.
Personal Evaluation
I want to begin this personal evaluation by addressing my confidence in school leadership after completing this program. I have been told by mentors my whole life that I am a "natural leader" but I knew there were skills I needed to truly be an effective leader. I believe my strengths have been capitalized and my weaknesses have been addressed. I can honestly say that I would confidently accept a school leader position if it was offered to me. Though I am not a perfect leader by any means, I now know how to research, practice, and apply skills that I may feel need more attention. Additionally, I want to acknowledge my perseverance through the program, even through the birth of my first child. There were times where I did not know if I could complete a course with a newborn baby and major lack of sleep, but earning my Masters in Education has been a dream and I wanted to set the example for my child of what it means to accomplish your goals, no matter what life throws at you.
Program Evaluation
I want to begin by thanking all of my professors in this M.Ed. Educational Leadership program at the University of West Florida. Every single professor was not only knowledgable and professional, but also understanding and flexible. I can confidently say that the University of West Florida has exceeded my expectations for what this program would offer. This program offered a very balanced approach to course learning, research, and practicum experiences. Even with a full-time teaching job, I was able to complete each assignment and project without feeling the pressure of time. The program was fair in evaluations and provided just the right amount of hands-on experience that allowed me to get an authentic view of school leadership without taking too much time away from my professional career. I feel that this program has appropriately prepared me for a role in school leadership.
